Byre Cottage
Converted from the old cowshed, Byre Cottage is level throughout with wide doorways and ample turning space. It is approached with a ramp from the covered carport onto an attractive patio with table and bench seat where you can soak up the sun and watch the many birds enticed to Cwrt-y-Gaer.
While designed for the special needs of disabled people, others find waist high sockets and switches convenient. The bedroom has two single beds, with the shower room adjacent. There is an electronic shower with a seat and there are grab rails around the shower, hand basin and toilet. There is a colour TV/video player and radio/cassette CD player in the living area, which also has a three seater sofa which converts to a double bed when required. The kitchen area has an electric hob, combined microwave and fridge. There are normal work surfaces as well as special pull out low level work areas.

The beds are 0.48 metres high and there are raising blocks available. There is a 0.2 metre lip into the shower tray, but the seat is 0.55metres high with grab rails for transfer from the wheel chair.
